This and That

Busy. Summer is off to a quick start, and I know that in a blink of my eyes my little V will be starting K at summer's end. We're trying to make the most of the summer, for starting in August our lives will be dictated by the school calendar.

Enjoying this summer weekend we: enjoyed a late lunch. chicken salad (using the minimum of ingredients found in my kitchen!) on top of a bed of FRESH, just cut salad greens from the garden. frozen bluebies on top ( because that's all I had!) and whole grain crackers. Yum.Two new pairs of sleep pants for V. The kitty fabric she spotted in JoAnns and "had to have it for p.j.s", and the Amy Butler is leftover from another project. Again, I worked with whatever I had in the house....no elastic for the waist? I used Daddy's old tshirt to make a drawstring!

Sleep shorts for the boys. Made with leftover fabric.....too lazy to change the thread on my machine....and again, no elastic, so I made the same drawstring with an old tshirt.

The boys in their new shorts - checking out a bug in the pool.

Modeling their shorts before they changed into their swimming trunks...they are supposed to be showing their muscles!!
There you have it.....a taste of our Saturday. Aren't you so happy that I spared you all of the whining and fighting and messy house making that also occured? Now I'm off to relax and enjoy the rest of my weekend. Happy days to you!!

Great idea to use an old t-shirt to make draw strings! The shorts are really cute! And I can't believe how big your kids are getting. Crazy how time flies!

Hi Steph,
I love reading you blog & the antics of your kids! I too, used to make my kids clothes. Candyce because she was so tall & thin, nothing ever fit; the boys, because there were so many fun vibrant fabrics out there in the '80s! Now my daughter is a part-time seamstress, a full-time bridal consultant, and a budding entrepreneur starting her own business in the bridal/formal wear industry. Hope your summer is spent relaxing and enjoying your kiddies!
