It's really hard to leave all you know and are comfortable with behind. At least for me. You would think I just moved away from my comfort zone, but I took that leap of faith over nine years ago. I've been to several hair stylists and have settled on one, although I still swear she never gets it quite like the guy I always went to before. I've been blessed with good doctors. Shopping, groceries, restaurants, that's all easy to find when you pick up and leave your comfort zone. The most difficult for me has been church. Why is it so hard for me to find a church?
I was raised Lutheran, but was attending a different church when I lived in KC. I loved that church. It was a fine blend of traditional/contemporary, had a wide range of ages, and a lot of opportunity for involvement. At that point in my life though I just wanted to be a marble.....rolling in and out of church on a Sunday morning. Now, being a mother of young children, I am looking for that church and haven't found it.
Did I say that I've been here for 9 years? Yes, I have. In all fairness though I've only been in this home for 5-6! Still. 5 years and I haven't found a church. I've done a lot of hopping around, a lot of throwing my hands in the air and not going, a lot of computer "searching", some asking around, and finally some praying about it. I've attended 2 wks at a local church that I just don't think is the best fit for us. Nothing bad about it at all - it's just not the right one. I've searched out several more to try in the coming weeks, although I'll have to drive longer to get there.
What are your thoughts? What do you look for in a church?

Well, since I married a Catholic, I'm pretty much stuck. He would never change, even though he disagrees with a lot of what the church teaches. I think it is out of respect for his devout Grandmother and parents.
I, like you, always enjoyed church when I was young. Small town, you didn't have much choice, so you went where you were taken and participated in the square dances, bell choir, youth groups, etc.
Not sure what to tell you, but hopefully you will find some place your kids will enjoy with other couples like you guys!
I'm the same way. I'd love to belong to a church, but my views are not traditional at all so it's difficult to fit in anywhere.
