Applique for the Big Day

Tomorrow is a big day. It's a big day for two little men in this house. It's a big day for Mommy and Daddy, too, as we lived each day in fear while they were in utero. We didn't know if they would survive the monoamniotic pregnancy, be born alive, and if so would they fight and be strong enough at eight weeks prematurity. We were blessed with two beautiful baby boys who beat the odds. Tomorrow is a BIG day for our family, because tomorrow our boys turn THREE! I finished their birthday shirts just in time for their big day. And I've learned that I have a lot to learn about applique! I suppose I could blame the mistakes on my machine. It doesn't have a great zig-zag stitch, but then again, maybe that's because I don't know what I'm doing! OR, maybe it's because the boys sneak in and pretend my machine is an airplane. I'm always having to reset my needle position, stitch width, etc.

I recently signed up to take a crochet class at our library. It's a beginner class, which I already know how to crochet, but thought I might pick up on a few gems that I missed while learning in the hospital bed three years ago! I'm now rethinking that class, because the same night there is an applique class at a local quilt shop. Hmmm....what to do?!

The boys are so excited to wear their new shirts to library class tomorrow! Stay tuned for birthday celebrations. I still have to bake cake! Chocolate, of course.
