I don't get the chance to post much anymore. A glimpse at my "today" might give you an understanding of why....
The twins:
- dumped a tub of crayons all over the floor (100s of them)
- threw the crayons all over the family room
- I picked the crayons up with a tiny bit of help from them
- Repeat above scene twice
- I "hid" the crayons
- Twin A sneaks a crayon and tried to color the banister
- I take the crayon away, he laughs, finds it again and runs off laughing
- Twin B has now colored on V's new art easel she received for her birthday
- Pushing, fights, screaming, everyone wants to be held
- Twin A poured his cup of milk onto his plate and tried to drink like a dog.....more screams when mean Mama took it away
- Twin B thought maybe pouring his milk onto his chair tray would be acceptable. If not, maybe the floor was a better idea.
- NAPTIME....Ahhhh.....I thought maybe I could sit for maybe five minutes to flip through the new US Weekly that just arrived. NOPE. Twin A and B decide that today is the day to first climb out of the cribs and come downstairs......laughing all the way.
- Twin A and B think that the toilet would make a great place to have some water play....since it's been too cool for swimming. Up to their shoulders in the toilet....wet hair....drenched floor....walls wet too.
- Straight to the bathtub for more splashing. I gave them each a haircut after only to find a tick in Twin B's head......HELP...called a neighbor since Daddy was not home at the time.
- Twin A threw a paintbrush in the toilet while I was cutting hair.
- I took the kids on a wagon ride around the neighborhood....more screams when it was time to come in for bed.
- Repeat Naptime scene three times.
All of this happened right in front of me - while I was there doing dishes, laundry, answering the phone that rang a jillion times - you know, being a mom. Thankfully, darling daughter V was a near angel today. So I wonder.....how do all of the other moms out there do it all? Because I just can't seem to. I have a project list a mile long of things I'd like to make or do around the house, yet can't get past a load of laundry or spills all over the floor. Oh, that reminds me. I have a load to fold and one to put in the dryer....both of which I started at 7:30 this morning.

Oh my girl! No wonder you needed a stiff drink. I know those times are so hard but it does get better. As the twins get older, they will become better behaved and you will have more time for things you want and need to do. I feel like 3 is the magic age. Things seem to ease a lot when your babies are 3. So hold on and remember that this too shall pass and when your kiddos are going in different directions and aren't looking for you all the time, you just might miss it:) Big hugs and hopes for better days!
LOL! Yep, that sounds like a normal day for me, too. I threw out the crayons a long time ago because they caused too many fights and I recently painted the walls. Its tough to get stuff done. I don't even try to get it all done anymore because I was making myself crazy. My girls love to play in the sink and it makes me nuts, so I sometimes put them in the tub in the morning and let them play until they are little prunes. It makes them nice and tired for naptime. The fighting....ugh. Mine fight all the time, too. Elle has pulled out handfulls of Sunny's hair. I often have to keep them separated. All three of them have to be separated sometimes. Good luck!!!!
wow....you need a mommy vacation!
That is one insane day :) which I feel like I have lived once or more in my past three years. It does get better. My girls still fight and get into mischief but they also will entertain themselves without damaging anything for longer periods of time too so I can get stuff done.
