I need an HGTV intervention. I haven't watched the channel for awhile, as there are usually cartoons playing when the t.v. is on. I do, however, remember watching it ALL. THE. TIME. when I was on hospitalized bedrest, and hoping that "While You Were Out" or "Divine Design" would just happen upon my home! Since they didn't, I'm still stuck with the same challenges as the day we bought this home. Don't get me wrong....I love my home. It's beautiful. There are just a few challenges.
1) I'm not a shopper, so I don't get out to look around at home decor. (nor could I with the twinadoes!)
2) I have a husband whose idea of decorating is different than mine. He buys. I don't.
3) I don't have a "style." I like many different things.
4) I'm indecisive....especially with committing to color.
5) Instead of just diving in and going for it, I try to plan it all in my head. I want to know that it will look good and not waste money on something that I won't like next week.
6) Because of 1-5 nothing gets decorated.....except by my hubby.
I'm trying to dive into our master bed/bath, but once again I can't decide on color. I need your help. Our master bath is not a reflection of either of us. It is VERY nice and of extreme high quality, so we feel bad even wanting to change it. Right now is not the time for us to redo it, so I've accepted that I have to learn how to decorate around my dislikes. The flooring is black marble tile. It has a large, open walk-in shower with the same black marble tile ( the floor of the shower is black/white almost mosaic like tile.) The countertops and area around the spa tub are forest green marble. Tub, toilet, and sinks are black( a pain in the butt to clean!) Finally, all fixtures, drawer pulls, etc. are BRASS. Someone would love our bathroom. It just doesn't reflect anything about us! Since I'm needing to decorate around these existing colors, how do I work with them without having to use forest green/brass? I want to find a way to distract from that if I can. Any ideas?
I also want to add some fabric on the windows to soften the room. Again, I have no ideas of color or where to begin. I wish I had a touch of interior design talent! It would help my easily confused brain right now!
