Sun, Surf, and a Halter

My last post referenced this Amy Butler pattern as my next project. My "next" project!!! As if I've completed SO many!! I am in love with this halter! It is the VERY first piece of clothing I've made for myself, and I'm afraid it is all I will be wearing in the warm months!

First, I have to say that this pattern was so well written and easy to follow. It noted that it was great for beginners, and I certainly agree. When I ordered the pattern, I also picked out some of Amy Butler's fabric.....not cheap, but worth it! Once I received everything I decided it would be best for me to "test" my skills on less expensive fabric. That's when this sunny material entered my world.

It worked up quickly and smoothly. I started today while the kids were napping, then let dinner dishes sit in the sink a little longer than I like (yuck), and finished after the children were in bed.

Pay no attention to my look - zero makeup and it's late!
The back is a bit deeper than I expected, so what kind of bra to wear is in question. Anyone who has had children, (especially multiples!) or is 40+ understands the need!
I am so excited to cut the next one, because even though I like this fabric... I LOVE the other! I will be sure to pack this in my bag when we go to Mexico next month!

Hey! Very nice! It looks really comfy, but I see the bra problem. I have no idea how to solve that because bras are my nemesis...I need a professional bra fitting. There must be one out there that you can wear with your halter. What about stick ons? hehehe..... that ought to feel great in the heat....

Fabulous! i love it. You did a great job. There are bras out there that are low in the back and convertable to a halter. I totally get the bra need:)

Stephanie,
Not only do you ROCK that halter top, you did a fantastic job making it. It looks well made, and wonderful ON you. If I had your arms, I think I'd feel complete as a person. j/k.

To be even more crazy he was born on 1/20 at 1:20 in room 120.
