Homemade By Moi

I've posted before about my new love for crochet and embroidery. In that post I shared some of my failure attempts at making a simple hat. While I haven't attempted another hat as of yet, I did successfully complete several projects to give as gifts. I couldn't be more proud! Let's just hope the items hold together and don't start falling apart at first wear!

These handwarmers were made in November for a neighbor. We found out it was her birthday at the last minute, and I got busy! They worked together quickly....my first pair, so NOT perfect. Comfy and cozy though :) I have yarn and want to make my own...my hands are always freezing in my house! I also have a request from this neighbor's mom for another pair! I found the free pattern on Creative Yarn.

The green scarf took FOREVER. I just did rows and rows of dc and sc, then added fringe. I hate to calculate the hours I spent on it! The "cognac" scarf worked up rather quickly, and I loved it so much that I made three more! It is a narrow scarf...about 3.5 in, but long enough to wrap around your neck and still be long enough to show the pretty shell stitch. I think that pattern came from a book I checked out from the library... The Happy Hooker Stitch and Bitch!

The blue scarf had a pair of handwarmers made to go with it! The green is my favorite, so I made another for myself while we were driving to MO for Christmas. I still have to weave in the ends and block it.

I found these really ugly 4x6 frames on clearance, spray painted them black, then embroidered simple sayings on muslin fabric. I love this type of thing, and now need to make one for ME!

It was a somewhat crafty Christmas for me. I've finally found a few things I enjoy doing after the kids have gone to bed. I think my gift recipients really liked them, too!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my handmade gifts! I wore the scarf the other day and couldn't resist admiring it every time I passed a mirror and the embroidery piece is the only decorative item up in our house so far! Simply beautiful!!!

They all look great! I love Creative Yarn. I wish she posted more often. The skinny scarves are really pretty. I can understand why you made so many of them. This year is a handmade year for me. I'm going to try to hand make the majority of the gifts I give this year.
