Another naptime/bedtime sewing project completed! Yippee! This time I used the same halter pattern, but added about seven inches of length, so I could use it as a swim coverup on my trip or the backyard pool. I have several of the sarong wraps to put over a swimsuit, but I'm not really wild about the look. I wanted a cute "dress" look that was easy to throw on at the beach or pool, and one that would look nice if going somewhere quickly.
I didn't prewash my fabric, so ignore the crease down the center!

Halter Turns Coverup
This time I made the elastic back smaller, but it didn't help! I think it was weighed down by the weight of the fabric along with the extra length I added. I did fully line it, too, so that is extra weight. Oh well....it's a swim coverup! I'm hesitant to make the xsmall, because I'm not an extra small - the measurements for that size are 2 inches smaller than my actual measurements. The small measurements fit mine perfectly, yet the top is a bit big on me. My favorite fabric is up next.....I'm not sure what to do to get the fit just right. Maybe I'll just stick with what I did on the first one!

I really like it! Wish I had time to make one for our cruise BUT we leave in the morning! Maybe you could use a wider/stronger elastic for the back? Anyway it's very cute.
MOM
Lucky you I can't sew to save my life! Very cute!
Can you be any cuter??? Love the idea of making your top into a swim cover up. I live in those around the house in summer and at our river house but mine are not as cute. I seriously feel myself being pushed into dusting off the ole sewing machine and heading to Joanne's :)
Look at you go! You will look smashing in that little cover up on the beach. So fun!
